Anupam Chugh Sidhu is a first generation immigrant who emigrated from Punjab, India at the age of 9 with her family. She did her grades 6-12 schooling in the West Michigan area. After graduating high school, she went on to study mathematics and science with a secondary education teaching certificate. She has taught in urban and suburban districts, as well as university level mathematics courses. She then pursued a masters in Instructional Technology and moved into education consulting to support schools in Wayne County.  

With over 25 years of experience in public education, she has worked as a teacher, tutor, Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) education consultant, administrator, school board member and most recently a university regent. She has experience in math education, curriculum, education policy, leadership, innovative programs, strategic planning, school improvement, and board governance. Anupam has also received local and state awards for her work in education and advocacy. She was appointed twice by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to serve on two statewide education advisory councils (2020, 2021). 

Anupam currently serves as the Vice President of the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) Board of Education. This is her eighth year serving on the board. She has held multiple leadership roles while serving on the board including President, Vice President, Secretary, and Chair of the Policy and Student Performance and Achievement committees. In 2023, she was appointed to Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents by Governor Whitmer. She also serves on the Wayne County School Board Association.
