Dr. Avneet Soin is a psychiatrist who completed her general psychiatry residency at NYU Grossman Schoolof Medicine. During her training, she received the Lara Fuchs Award for Clinical Excellence in Inpatient Psychiatry, served as education chief resident in her final year, and completed a clinical expertise track in Interventional Psychiatry and Neuromodulation. She is currently a Diversity Leadership Fellow with the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and APA Foundation, and she is pursuing a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Soin earned her B.S. in Biopsychology from Tufts University in 2017 and graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2021. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Honos Civicus Society in recognition of her academic excellence and civic engagement.
Her clinical interests include consultation-liaison psychiatry, health equity, neuromodulation and interventional psychiatry, cultural psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and integrated care models. Dr. Soin has extensive experience in both public speaking and writing. She has presented at a wide range of events, including the NYU Langone Health Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds, the Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture Annual Meeting, the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Annual Conference, the NYU Polysubstance Use Symposium, the Society of General Internal Medicine Mountain West/New England Virtual Regional Meeting, the Massachusetts Medical Society Alliance Interim Meeting, and the American Medical Association Annual Meeting.
In addition to her presentations, Dr. Soin has published numerous pieces on topics related to medicine, mental health, and healthcare policy. She has contributed several Op-Eds to Doximity as an Op-Med Fellow, written multiple articles for The Carlat Psychiatry Report, and published work on platforms such as KevinMD and in-Training.
Dr. Soin is the co-founder of the inaugural Sikh Mental Health Summit, a groundbreaking national initiative focused on reducing stigma, building community-centered resources, and promoting culturally grounded mental wellness within the Sikh community. This work reflects her broader commitment to increasing representation, visibility, and healing within underserved and underrepresented populations.
