Dr. Jashleen Kaur Bedi is the co-founder of Umeed: Hope Into Action, a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating the Sikh American voice through advocacy, education, and meaningful engagement in the political and interfaith arenas. Passionate about representation and equity, she champions initiatives that amplify diverse perspectives, foster unity across faith communities, and empower marginalized voices in public discourse.

A leader in organized dentistry, Dr. Bedi is the first Sikh American to serve as President of the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, the first Sikh American woman to represents the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists as a Delegate and Council Representative at the national level, and she serves as an Ambassador for the American Board of Orthodontics. Through each of these roles, she advocates for inclusion, mentorship, and forward-thinking leadership within the profession.

Dr. Bedi is also deeply engaged in healthcare advocacy, particularly at the intersection of dentistry and broader public health issues. She has lectured on the role of the dental professional in identifying and managing obstructive sleep apnea, as well as on the critical importance of organized healthcare advocacy, representation, and policy engagement.

A strong proponent of interfaith collaboration, Dr. Bedi believes in the power of unity and shared purpose.
